I trekked with Cholendra to Everest Base Camp at the end of December through late January, and it was an experience I will never forget. Not only did my friend and I have fantastic weather the entire time we were in the mountains, but Cholendra and our porter, Kedar, were exceptional hosts, guides, and friends. They were always making sure we had food to eat, were staying warm, and having fun. Cholendra was also very good about maintaining a slow and steady pace that allowed us to go long distances without tiring. In addition, even before the trek began, Cholendra picked up my friend and I from the airport at two separate times, took us out to breakfast and dinner, and helped us gather all of our gear in Thamel - all while running his business! I was blown away by Cholendra's commitment to his clients and to his community. He has done extensive volunteer work and rebuilding for mountain communities (like his own village) since the 2015 earthquake, is a co-founder of a local high school, and is currently starting his own NGO to help with education initiatives in Nepal. If you're looking for a guide that is knowledgable about the area and involved in bettering the community, you will not find a better man than Cholendra. I was so happy to have met him, and he has become a lifelong friend and part of my family. I can't wait to go back for round two!

I truly don't have the words to express how amazing Cholendra and Himalayan Joy Adventure is. My friend and I went on an eleven day trek with Cholendra to Everest Base Camp and it was by far the best experience of my life.

To start, Cholendra is prompt and organized. He always returned emails and made sure our trek was planned perfectly. He picked me up at the airport and was sure to spend time with me in Kathmandu before we left for our trek. I felt so welcomed and excited!

Once we were trekking, I felt safe and taken care of. Cholendra made sure to move at a pace that was comfortable for my friend and I. He gave us the encouragement we needed and he made sure we were enjoying our time. The accommodations along the way to EBC were lovely and the food was always delicious. Our porter, Kedar, was kind and made our trek much more fun and enjoyable. I was so happy he was able to join us.

Honestly, I can't say enough wonderful things about Cholendra and his company. I was constantly moved by his integrity and commitment to community in Nepal. It is obvious that Cholendra has a heart of gold and I feel so blessed that I was able to trek with Himalayan Joy Adventure. I know that I will go on several more treks with HJA, and I am sure that Cholendra will be a lifelong friend (and brother too)!

We trekked with Cholendra to Gorepani /Poon hill for 4 days in October. I highly recommend this experience. Cholendra is very thoughtful and organized. He took very good care of our family, so we could enjoy our trip. He is extremely capable and helped us organize transportation after our trek, and planned our stay in Chitwan. I would not hesitate to travel with him again.

We planned our yatra/trip in December 2014 and from then onwards, Cholendra nurtured our dreams into reality.
Nepal earthquake, road closures- no problem! Cholendra always had solutions and made arrangements to fulfil our yatra requirement.
Our family of 12 (ranging from the ages of 38 to 72) were taken care of like royalty. Yummy meals are freshly prepared and served that made us feel at home.

Our Gosainkunda trekking took place in April this year. Before the trip I was a bit worried how it would turn out since I was an inexperienced trekker and it was our first guided tour with the Himalayan Joy team.

During this trip I realised I couldn't have made a better choice of guide. From the start Cholendra and his team were friendly and easygoing which put all of us at ease. But came the first day of our trekking when the earthquake struck. Though in times of a great disaster, it didn't stop them from taking care of us. During our descent, there were many times I slipped on the rocky path and I was at a very slow pace. Cholen held on to my hand so that I did not fall from over 2,000km of height. Landslides were almost everywhere but owing to his good judgement, we managed to avoid getting hit by rocks and made our way down safely to the relief camp. Later we got news that many houses from his village was greatly damaged but be that as it may, he stayed with us and ensured we had access to shelter, food, water and blanket. I was able to get in touch with my family through his phone. This exemplified the level of professionalism and empathy in their work. We simply could not say enough our appreciation. With this, I'll definitely recommend Himalayan Joy to my friends.
