- Village experience + volunteering at Basa (2.5 weeks)
This was probably the most "enlightening" 2 weeks of my life.
I met Cholendra when my family and I did the Annapurna circuit 2+ years ago and I was up for more. So this time round I wanted to summit Mera Peak, but before that to do some volunteering work and get a taste of village life.
As a doctor I wanted to explore healthcare/education in a Nepalese setting, and so Cholendra had made arrangements for me to stay in Basa ; village in the mountains with his parents and work in a healthpost and school there.
After a 15 hour jeep ride from Kathmandu, I was finally in Basa. I was greeted by Cholendra's parents, Mr and Mrs Bahadur Karki who were the most generous and loving hosts you would ever have. Throughout the stay they were so warm, kind and made sure I was comfortable however they could. I stayed in a very clean room, with plenty of blankets to keep warm for it got pretty cold at night.
It was a simple way of life - food, work, people. I tried to live their life - ate what they ate, went to the fields, dug up potatoes, fed the goats, building a cowshed, helped the villagers paint their community hall, cooked with aunty... It was such fun!
The people led simple lives and were happy in the hearts. It redefined the meaning of sharing and happiness. It made me question aspects of my own life...
I spent a few days at the health post and the remainder time at the local school. For 1.5 weeks - I was running English based games/programmes with children of different ages. In that period of time they improved their vocabulary and confidence speaking English. I had objectively measured this and came up with some recommendations which I shared with the teaching faculty.
It was a great time I had and has made me a more humble human being. Personally, I feel that people should experience this life and use it to reevaluate their own lives, do social work and contribute back to society. This being said, the " village experience" should NOT be commercialised like others I have seen for it will change the entire setting and significance of it.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Bahadur Karki for such an unforgettable experience and Cholendra for making it possible!G.Aru G.AruMalaysia,March 22, 2020 - EBC Trek

9991shantaMalaysia,August 28, 2019 - Memorable Yatra to Mount KailashI and a group of 15 adults (men and women) of mostly aged 50 and above entrusted ourselves with Cholendra and his assistants for a 18 day Mount Kailash Yatra. With love, care, knowledge and assistance beyond their normal duties Cholendra and his team ensured all 16 of us completed the Yatra. Moments of despair among us were put to rest or resolved by Cholendra and his able and trusted team always with captivating smiles, jokes and relevant advice or suggestions. Cholendra's well chosen and friendly Tibetan guide, Tashi was likewise a bundle of energy always attending admirably to the smallest of needs. I, the oldest at 69 years had a pleasant and memorable Yatra. I would highly recommend them for their tours.
Thank you Cholendra, Tika, Purna, Kedar, Buddhi, Tilanath, and Kumar. God bless you and your families.SelvaMalaysia,July 26, 2019 - Journey to Mount Kailash

Kerpagam NMalaysia,July 18, 2019 - The BEST!
Despite being my first Kailash Yatra, what an awesome experience it was! Thanks to the amazing team by Cholendra. Together as a team, they are friendly, knowledgeable and absolutely passionate about their work. Above all, they are wholly reliable! Having had the first hand experience of how committed the team was in giving the best possible service without compromising the comfort and the safety of our group members; these are the guys that you would want to engage with to have your backs! Regardless what it may be, they have proven to come to one's rescue with a smile. Kudos! Can't thank you enough, yet again thank you Cholendra for the outstanding efforts and the exceptional hospitality.
YoungestMalaysia,July 10, 2019 - "Specific, terrific and fantastic"My 2nd yatra to Kailash with Himalayan Joy Adventures was nothing but spectacular. The meticulous planning by Cholendra's team from the moment we arrived in Kathmandu, right through to arranging 4x4 vehicles for ground movement, hotel bookings during the journey, preparing fresh and warm food at every stop, making sure the guides and helpers were attending to our needs, taking care of customs and immigration both in Nepal and Tibet (China), and to attend to all personal needs of the yaris were done with extra ordinary professionalism and an ever warming smile.
On this occasion, Cholendra, with his counterpart Tashi in Tibet organised the side trip to walk towards the North Face of Kailash to reach within 20 meters of the Grand Mountain. It was a surreal experience that will remain etched in my body and soul and bring back spiritual moments that are beyond description. To be alone with the "father" in a grand snow covered auditorium, watching in awe the grand pillars of the cathedral that arise in front of you like the gates of the yonder world with the swelling winds humming AUM, the pranava mantra, is a mesmerising and fully absorbing experience.
Thank you Cholendra for yet again making us all feel at ease in some of the most trying and challenging moments of the yatra. God bless you.Jeya JeyaMalaysia,July 09, 2019
